Gus Meets the Goats

I didn't get a picture of it, so you'll just have to look at his pictures and imagine it, but Gus, our 5-year-old Jordanian cat, had an amusing encounter with the goats the other day.

Gus likes to think of himself as master of all he surveys.

He tries to project a tough image, but the truth is that he's a little softie and he likes to be around his humans to show the other animals that we like him best.

The other day we were down petting the goats, and Gus decided to join us. He walked along the fence toward us, balancing delicately because the wooden part of the fence there is only about an inch wide.

As he walked, one of the female goats came up to him and rose up on her hind legs to check him out. They looked at each other for a minute, then she poked her nose up and just pushed him right off the fence!

He landed in a tangle of paws, tail and shock, amidst the sounds of humans laughing.

Doesn't everyone know cats are at the top of the food chain? Stupid goats....
